ECE HASKAN
2DEce Haskan was born on July 14, 1997, in Istanbul. She studied in the Painting Department at Avni Akyol Fine Arts High School between 2010 and 2015. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Graphic Design Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, where she studied from 2015 to 2023.
Ece Haskan enables the audience to redefine their perception of reality through her works. Using surreal imagery that exists in an unknown dimension, independent of time and space, she depicts the inconsistencies of daily life with an ironic tone, inviting the audience into a different reality within the fantasy world she creates. By emphasizing a positive reality through her use of color, Haskan opens the doors to an alternative reality, far from common understanding.
Basing her work on the narrative practice of illustration, she explores concepts through the human body in her paintings and three-dimensional works like sculptures, adopting a new surrealist approach. By bridging the gap between reality and surreality, her works invite the audience to reflect on the irony, contradictions, and intricate flow of daily life.
As she redefines reality in her art, Haskan creates multiple layers of meaning, delving into alternative realities. Her work explores themes such as stories, images, games, social roles and relationships, and the fragility of existence—all as products of the creative human mind. Addressing these themes, she engages the audience with imagery that touches both the individual and collective subconscious. In this way, the viewer interacts with her works, discovering new meanings through their subjective experiences.
