Serap Gecü’s art practice focuses on photography, drawing, and writing. Her photography works have been exhibited in venues such as No Exclusive Quarters For Families (Mtaär Open Art Space), Wallpeople Project (Milk Gallery), İkametgah Kadıköy (Hush Gallery), MIA Anywhere (MIA Collection Virtual Museum), and Visual Space. Her work has been featured in publications such as L'Œil de la Photographie, LeCool, Banané, Carpaccio, Bak, Simple Style, Saqi Books, and Manifold. Her drawings have been showcased and exhibited on art platforms like Mana Contemporary, ARTSY, MIA Art Collection, Jaguar Arte, and Visual Space. They have been covered in publications and media such as The Woman Artist, artdetector, Flint Culture, She & She, BABEL, and Baya Collective. She participated in the Mana Contemporary Digital Open House as part of the CADAF 2020 Art Fair and exhibited in The Misfits exhibition curated by Ysabel Pinyol Blasi. She also participated in STEP Istanbul and the ASHKAL ALWAN HWP 2021 online program. Together with her sister Seda Gecü, she founded the artist initiative Flâneur Collective. With their first joint book project, Önümde Duruyor, she participated in border_less Artbook Days in 2022. In 2023, she presented her first photo book, La Dérive, at border_less Artbook Days. This book was also featured at the Athens Art Book Fair and Vienna Art Book Fair in 2023. And it is included in the permanent archive of London's photography community "Photobook Cafe", established by Rapid Eye Darkroom. Additionally, she has been working as an editor since 2012. She held the role of director of publications for XOXO The Mag, Some Men, Petals, and Feed magazines, and was the creative agency director of 212 Studio. She worked as an editor for various publications of İKSV and Pozitif. She also worked as a project consultant and editorial director for Beymen Magazine. In the 2000s, her stories were published in Adam Öykü and altzine magazines. She translated H.P. Lovecraft's The Case of Charles Dexter Ward into Turkish for 6:45 Publishing. She lives and works in Istanbul.
